Regularisation of jobs demanded: contract employees of Nadra baton-charged
The contract employees of National Database Regulatory Authority (Nadra) were baton-charged on Tuesday when they refused to clear the road blockades. The contract employees of Nadra were protesting for the last two days in the federal capital against non-payment of attention to their demands by the government.
The protesters blocked the road in front of Nadra headquarter on Tuesday, which resulted in severe traffic jam. The area police resorted to baton-charge and tear gas shelling when the protesters refused to open the road for traffic. Protesters also pelted stones at police and injured Station House Officer (SHO) Secretariat Police Station along with two constables. Police arrested over 26 protesters and registered an FIR against them.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners and chanted anti-government slogans. Protesters said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani should fulfil his promise regarding regularisation of contract employees. They appealed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice in this regard, vowing that they will continue their struggle till the fulfilment of their demands.
