Hoti holds most of assets in his spouse's name

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday declared the annual statements of assets and liabilities for the financial year ending June 30, 2011 of the Senators as well as members of three provincial assemblies - Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to the statements filed by the members of provincial assembly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa up to October 15, 2011, Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti's most assets are in the name of his spouse. As per details available with the ECP, the Chief Minister owns immovable property in the country worth Rs 10,990,000, an 11 marla land in Mardan in his wife's name, whereas in the movable assets outside Pakistan, he owns 24 percent shares in Al-Aauqab Transport valuing Rs 3,300,000, which is also in his spouse's name.
Hoti also owns 66.5 percent shares in his wife's name amounting to Rs 6,448,000 TM CNG as well as 50 percent shares amounting Rs 5,000,000 in STM CNG also in his spouse's name. The Chief Minister also owns 20 tola gold in his wife's name. Besides, he declared in the ECP that he has only Rs 300,000 cash in hand, whereas he owns furniture, fittings and articles of personal use valuing Rs 300,000.
Interestingly, Hoti has three bank accounts-one with Rs 3,000, while the remaining two with Rs 2,000 each. According to the documents, the Chief Minister does not own any vehicle. Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour, in his assets declared in the ECP, owns total liabilities of Rs 66,991,500 with immovable property of Rs 2 million and movable property worth Rs 64,991,500. His wife Mrs Nighat Bashir owns total liabilities worth Rs 51,037,101 with movable property valuing Rs 2,221,892, while immovable property worth Rs 48,815,209.
Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain owns immovable property in the country amounting to Rs 9 million and movable property valuing Rs 0.5 million. He also owns Toyota car of model 1992 worth Rs one million. He has two bank accounts - one having Rs 1,687,676 and the other with Rs 5,579,965.
Pervez Khattak a former provincial minister who recently joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) owns immovable property in the country amounting to Rs 180.4 million, while he declared that he does not own any immovable property. He has paid 'in advance' Rs 1.06 million for purchasing a Toyota corolla car. The former provincial minister only has Rs 6,992 cash in hand, while he also owns Rs 11,736 in a bank account. He owns furniture, fittings and articles of personal use worth Rs 300,000.
Nighat Yasmeen Orakzai of PML-Q owns immovable properties (10 marla plot in Peshawar and gifted by her father) of Rs 8 million, two kanal plot in Abbottabad (jointly owned) Rs 4 million, one shop in Peshawar (owned by her husband) worth Rs 9 million and an office in Peshawar (owned by her husband) valuing Rs One million.
In her movable property within Pakistan, she has a business of Rs 200,000 in her husband's name. She also told the ECP that her husband owns 100 tola gold, declaring its value at Rs 0.5 million. She only has cash in hand amounting to Rs 3,500 and Rs 1,730 in a bank account. While interestingly, Shazia Awrangzeb Khan of PML-N declared her assets with ECP as "Nil".
