Sindh Food Department has set up 389 wheat procurement centres for procurement of 1.3 million metric tons of wheat from various districts of the province at the rate of Rs 1050/- per 40 kilogrammes from April 1, 2012. The procurement rate of 40kg of wheat has also been increased from Rs 950/- to Rs 1050/-.
Sindh Chief Minister has directed the officers of the Food Department to guide & facilitate the farmers so that the target could be achieved in a smooth way. Out of 389 procurement centers, 22 centers in Hyderabad, 37 in Dadu, 9 in Badin, 6 in Thatta, 45 in Mirpurkhas, 43 in Sanghar, 23 in Sukkur, 24 in Ghotki, 43 in Khairpur, 35 in Naushehro Feroze, 36 in Shaheed Benazir Abad, 27 in Larkana, 11 in Shikarpur, 26 in Jacobabad while 2 procurement centers have been established in Karachi.
