LEAs conduct search operation: banned PAC leaders nominated in Rasheed Katchi's murder

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested over half a dozen suspects during overnight search in Lyari. According to police sources, the search operations were conducted at several parts of Kalakot including Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road, Nawa lane, Khadvi Market, Dhobi Ghaat and Adam Mill area that led the detention of nine suspects, who were said to be associated with banned People's Amn Committee (PAC).
Meanwhile, the murder case 67/12 of Rasheed Katchi and his security guard Zubair Katchi was registered under sections 302/34, 324/34, 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act on the complaint of Katchi Rabita Committee (KRC) leader Ibrahim against banned Amn Committee leaders Habib Jan Baloch, Zafar Baloch, police inspector Yousuf Baloch, two brothers of notorious gangster Baba Ladla namely Zahid Ladla and Zahid Ladla and other Lyari gangsters including Rahim alias Darinda, Sikandar alias Sikku, Omar Katchi and two unidentified persons.
Although the LEA had clear directives to conduct indiscriminate search operations at Lyari to root out the wrongdoers, they appeared toothless to nab these nominated persons, despite displaying massive show of power on late Monday. Police sources said the SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam Khan also took part in the search operation and added that the PAC office and football ground were also sealed during the operation.
Later, interior minister Rehman Malik also visited several parts of Lyari including Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai road, Mirza Adam Khan Road and Cheel Chowk and appreciated the performance of the LEAs. On the other hand, KRC leader Hussain Katchi expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of LEAs, saying that the law enforcers seemed ineffective to nab the nominated persons. However, the representatives of PAC denied their involvement in the murder of KRC leader Rasheed and demanded to the authorities to conduct fair inquiry in this connection.
