All Pakistan CNG Association (APCA) has informed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that some traders are still engaged in the importing CNG cylinders by forging documents despite ban on the import of CNG cylinders from December 15, 2012.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that the association has lodged a serious complaint against certain importers, who have been allegedly involved in import of CNG cylinders by changing documents. The CNG cylinders were banned with effect from December 15, 2011.
In this connection, the association has written a letter to the FBR. Customs authorities should verify the following points before releasing the imported consignments: Firstly, the customs department should verify the Letter of Credit from the concerned bank.
Secondly, Letter of Credit should be dated before December 15, 2011. If there is any amendment in Letter of Credit after December 15, 2011 the consignment should be liable to confiscation. Thirdly, no consignment be released if imports are on contracts or cash basis. Fourthly, customs authorities should not allow the consignment on bond without verifying the Letter of Credit from the concerned bank, sources added.
