Building of dams by India: Fazl seeks probe against Musharraf for showing negligence

Parliamentary Kashmir Committee Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Tuesday called for a thorough probe against former president Pervez Musharraf for allegedly showing negligence towards building of dams by India on rivers flowing into Pakistan from Occupied Kashmir.
Maulana Fazl was commenting on the statement of former Commissioner of Pakistan Indus Commission Jamaat Ali Shah, who alleged that General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf had neglected the constructing of dams by India on the rivers flowing into Pakistan from Occupied Kashmir.
According to a statement issued by Kashmir Committee Secretariat, Maulana said, "The traitors should be punished and if any Pakistani was involved in covertly helping India in making dams on rivers in Occupied Kashmir, he should meet the same fate." As per the Indus Water Treaty, three rivers ie Chenab, Jehlum and Indus rivers flow into Pakistan from Kashmir. Maulana Fazl observed that water was a very important issue and therefore, there should be no negligence in this regard.
He said Parliamentary Kashmir Committee held two meetings to discuss the matter of construction of dams by India on the rivers flowing into Pakistan and advised the Ministry of Water and Power to take all necessary measures in this regard. He said water was a lifeline for Pakistan's economy and hence any negligence committed in this regard would not be condoned by the nation.
