Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik has given approval to a sum of Rs 96.308 million for the installation of 35 new water filtration plants in Lahore and 15 in Sheikhupura for providing clean drinking water to the masses. He gave the approval during a meeting of divisional development working party here on Tuesday, disclosed an official.
The Commissioner also gave approval for laying sewerage pipeline costing Rs 10 million at Burki Road, Baowala and construction of 5.35-km road costing Rs 52.118 million from Kakar Gill to Gajiyana in Sheikhupura. In the meeting, Rs 5 million was also approved for the construction of 1.75-km road from old Jandiala Road to Railway Crossing. While addressing the meeting, the Commissioner Lahore Division said every penny of national exchequer should be spent in a transparent manner and all development schemes should be completed timely with best quality work.
He also directed the officers to initiate crackdown against the encroachments on footpath and said that illegal occupation of public land cannot be tolerated. He also directed the officers to identify such land grabber so that action could be taken against them in accordance with the law.
