Majority doesn't own a car: ECP unveils statements of assets of Sindh MPAs
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued the statements of assets of members provincial assembly of Sindh, according to which, most of the members do not have their own cars. According to the statement, Sindh Food Minister Mir Nadir Magsi has assets valuing Rs 1.51 billion.
The statement submitted in the ECP revealed that Magsi inherited weapons worth Rs 7.5 million and his personal addition to the arsenal amounts to Rs 2.5 million. He also owns a house in America worth Rs 10 million and agriculture land measuring 1,591acres with a present value of 1.5 lakh per acre.
The statements of assets submitted to the ECP also revealed that several Sindh cabinet members, including Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Nisar Khuhro and Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza do not own any vehicle. The present value of total assets of chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah is Rs 15.25 million. Similarly, the total assets of Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah worth Rs 114.61 million.
Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawala, Wildlife Minister Dr Daya Ram Esserani, Information Minister Shazia Marri, Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Minister for Social Welfare Nargis N.D. Khan, Minister for Minorities Affairs Mohan Lal Kohistani, Minister for Technical Education Abdul Salam Thaheem, Agriculture Minister Ali Nawaz Shah, Transport Minister Akhtar Hussain Jadoon, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Minister for Forests Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi, Tourism Minister Mohammad Ali Malkani, Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Sadiq Ali Memon and Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Makhdoom Jameeluzzaman do not have their own cars.
Similarly, a large number of ministers including Labour Minister Amir Nawab of the ANP, Sardar Ahmed, Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Faisal Sabzwari, IT Minister Raza Haroon, Minister for Bureau of Supplies and Prices Syed Shoab Bokhari and Minister for Human Rights Nadia Gabol also do not have their own cars.
Home Minister Manzoor Wassan's total assets are worth Rs 3044212, $5425 and pound sterling 5200. This includes one house in DHA Phase-II valuing Rs 3.6 million. Sadiq Memon has one house, one apartment and four plots in DHA Karachi, apart from other land and property. He also owns two houses in Canada. The total value of his assets is Rs 160 million, including Rs 4.10 million and $110,000 in bank accounts, but surprisingly Memon is also without a vehicle.
Shehla Raza and her husband own property, jewellery, business and other assets worth Rs 5.84 million. Esserani has total assets of Rs 118.07 million including a house in DHA and a plot in Islamabad. Pir Mazhar has the total assets valuing Rs 5.53 million.
Makhdoom Jameel, son of federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim, owns property and cash worth Rs 25.55 million, including 500 grams of gold. Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto owns nothing except 35 tolas of gold worth Rs 2.13 million, Nargis has assets worth Rs 3 million and gold worth Rs 25,000 only. The Minister for Religious Affairs Abdul Haseeb has a total assets and property worth Rs 450,000. He owns a 1985 motor cycle.
