Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday said that Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was an important arm of the security establishment assigned to safeguard national interests in consonance with the aspirations of the country's people. The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to the newly appointed Director General, ISI, Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam, who called on him after assuming his responsibilities, at the Prime Minister House.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the new DG ISI and expressed confidence that the institution would serve the national interest in best manner under his leadership. The ISI chief thanked the Prime Minister for reposing confidence in him for undertaking responsibilities pertaining to the national security.
