ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will hold a public meeting in Peshawar on February 4 and a social media convention in Gujranwala on February 2 to gain support of people for the next general elections to be held in July this year.

According to party sources, President Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will address the public meeting in Peshwar while his daughter and member of the party’s executive council Maryam Nawaz will speak at the social media convention in Gujranwala.

PML-N has recently speeded up its mass contact campaign and Nawaz Sharif has addressed a number of public meetings in previous weeks.

The thrice elected prime minister spoke to people in large gatherings in Quetta, Kot Momin, Haripur, Abbottabad and Jaranwala.

Nawaz Sharif who was ousted from power after a Supreme Court verdict on July 28 last year had launched a vigorous “Movement for Justice” and “Respect My Vote campaign”.

President PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Muqam has intensified his activities to ensure success of the public meeting in Peshawar and has been contacting and speaking to party supporters urging them to attend the meeting.

According to the party’s top leadership, PML-N is expecting to show a good result in the next elections on the basis of its performance, infrastructure development, improvement in security situation and for ending electricity shortages.

The party is optimistic that it will again form government at the federal level and in Punjab, whose Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has completed a large number of projects in the fields of education and health, improved transport facilities in cities and built a huge network of roads across the province.

People have recognized the party’s efforts by voting for its candidates in the recently held bye elections in different constituencies. In the recent by election in Chakwal the party secured more votes as compared to its candidate’s tally in the last general election.
