Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) Dr Hamid Jalil said on Saturday that the provincial government had set up a state-of-the-art slaughterhouse at Shahpur Kanjran to provide hygienic and disease free meat to the citizen of Lahore.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Meat Complex he further said that the slaughterhouse was now operational. Animals were being slaughtered there and its machinery was working properly, he added. Company's Manager Quality Compliance Rehan Ali and representative of butchers' community Haji Nawab were also present.
He announced that all the butchers who would bring their animals at this slaughterhouse would be given full protection. He said this slaughterhouse had been built with the co-operation of Iran in line with IFS, BRC, Halal and ISO certifications. It has a capacity of slaughtering 1000 big animals and 12000 small animals on daily basis while this capacity could be improved further.
