Central President All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries, Mehboob Azam has threatened to launch countrywide protest against extortion mafia if traders were not be given security. He was addressing a protest demo jointly held by traders and transporters at Lasbela Chowk here on Saturday.
He said those extortionists were moving freely with impunity besides government looked reluctant to take action against them. He called for empowering the law enforcement agencies including police in city in order to bring the criminals before justice. President Marriott Road Traders Association Usman Sharif held the government responsible for deteriorating economic conditions of the country. Leader Old City Alliance Jawaid Shaikh, Mehmood Hamid and others also spoke.
