Declared national heritage: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa begins work towards acquisition of Dilip Kumar house

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has started work on the acquisition of the house of the legendary Bollywood star Dilip Kumar in Mohallah Khudadad in historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar of the provincial metropolis. The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had declared the house of Dilip Kumar as national heritage and constituted a committee to determine the price of the house.
Dilip Kumar was born as Yousuf Khan and before partition migrated to India in 1942. For the acquisition of the house the provincial government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 30 million. A meeting of the price determination committee of the house was held on Saturday with Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), Waqar Ayub in the chair. Those who attended were included committee members, Secretary Information and Culture, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development and representative of Communication and Works (C&W) Department.
The meeting discussed various aspects for determining the price of Dilip Kumar's House besides reviewing its market value. The committee will submit its report to the higher authorities within a week. His relatives later sold it for Rs 5.6 million. According to sources, the house is in dilapidated conditions and would require rehabilitation that will be completed in few weeks. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture and Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussein during a visit to the residences of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor, had announced to declare their houses in the city as national heritage for the new generation.
