Canadian canola futures higher

ICE Canadian canola futures soared to a new six-month high on Thursday, supported by technical buying and gains in soyabeans, traders said. Canola notched its biggest daily percentage gain in more than two months. Total volume of nearly 33,800 contracts was largest since February 24, boosted by inter-month spreading. May canola gained $11.20, or 1.9 percent, to $598.90 per tonne on volume of 16,806 contracts. Touched $599.90, the highest price for the contract since September 9. July canola added $10.60 to $598.50 per tonne on volume of 10,117 contracts.
