Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has re-employed Dr Faqir Hussain as Registrar (BPS-22), Supreme Court of Pakistan for a period of two years from March 25, 2012 on usual terms and conditions. According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Dr Faqir Hussain the incumbent Registrar of the Supreme Court is a person of high integrity, moral, calibre and qualification.
It added that Dr Hussain re-employment due to non-availability of suitably qualified/experienced, staff does not infringe upon the promotional prospects and rights of the other officers, ie Additional Registrar and the Deputy Registrars of the Supreme Court Establishment, adding his retention in service is in public interest.
The Chief Justice has re-employed Dr Hussain as Registrar after consulting the four senior most Judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan who were of the unanimous opinion that Dr Faqir Hussain may be re-employed. Furthermore, the Registrar of the Supreme Court is also ex-officio Secretary of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, besides working as Secretary of the Supreme Judicial Council.
No right of promotion of any officer of the Supreme Court is being affected because currently there is no officer in BPS-21 in Supreme Court Establishment. The extension in period of re-employment of Dr Faqir Hussain is in line with the relevant government rules and judgement of the court in PLD 2011 SC 277. Therefore, the Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered further re-employment for two years of Dr Faqir Hussain, as Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan in BPS-22 w.e.f. March 25, 2012.-PR
