The Lahore High Court issued notice to Home Secretary and IGP for March 18 in a petition of a police inspector who approached the court for initiating contempt of court proceedings for not abiding by the court orders. The petitioner Sardar Awan contended that he had been waiting for his promotion for last thirteen years.
He had approached the court against the respondent for not allowing promotion to him in accordance with the law. The court had directed the respondents to act in accordance with the law and give him his due promotion. The respondent officials however did not bother the court orders and exposed themselves for contempt of court proceedings. The petitioner therefore prayed to the court to direct the respondents to give him due promotion and initiate contempt of court proceedings against them for not abiding by the court orders.
