British High Commissioner Adam Thomson along with Jasper Thornton, Political Secretary of the British High Commission in Islamabad called on (PML-N) leader, Senator, Ishaq Dar, in Punjab House on Tuesday and discussed the bilateral relationship and mutual co-operation between the two countries and economic situation of Pakistan. Thomson congratulated Senator Ishaq Dar on his unopposed election as a technocrat member in the Senate.
Senator Dar viewed that improving financial discipline, ensuring structural reforms and overcoming leakages in the tax collection would ensure increase in the tax to GDP ratio and will reduce fiscal deficit. He also recognised the immediate need to bring structural changes to improve the performance of public sector enterprises to save the current wasteful expenditure of billions of rupees on such PSES. Dar maintained the PML-N has always urged for structural reforms to remove macro-economic imbalances being faced by the country.-PR
