At least three policemen including Karachi operation specialist fell prey to target killing spree in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police sources, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Raja Moin, 47, son of Abdul Razzak was targeted when he was sitting outside his house located in Ali Town near Super Highway in the limits of Sacchal police station.
Resultantly, he received fatal bullet wounds and succumbed to his injures during treatment. Later he was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities. SHO Azhar Ali Iqbal said the victim was the resident of Ali Town and was deployed in Shah Latif police station. Police sources said the victim played a major role in Karachi operation and used work with Inspector Ahmed Hassan. He was a father of five from his two wives. No case was registered till filing of this report. A police constable Ayub alias Chacha, 57, was shot dead while returning to home from work near People's Chowrangi North Nazimabad.
He received single bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. Police said the victim was the resident of Faqeer Goth Shafiq Moor and father of two. Yet another PC was gunned down while other sustained injuries near Heart Disease Hospital F.B Area.
DSP Saleem Akhtar Siddiqui said the incident took place at block 16 F.B area, where two armed men, who were trying to snatch bike from a parking lot of the hospital, opened indiscriminate gunshots on two policemen namely Ghulam Abbas, 55, son of Khuda Bux and PC Fazal Ur Rehman, 50, son of Aziz on interception. Resultantly, both received bullet injures while the bandits managed to flee from the scene, after committing the crime. Police shifted them to ASH for treatment where PC Ghulam Abbas succumbed to his injuries. No case was registered till filing the report.
