The substandard preparation of goods would not be tolerated in any case. The Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali issued this warning during his visit to Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Head Office, Karachi in the 6th meeting of Board of Directors.
The Federal Minister informed that PSQCA played excellent role in market. He said that there must be only one National Authority to check quality control. He said that strict laws and capital punishment are under consideration for the manufacturers of counterfeit and unregistered products. Federal Minister categorically rejects any compromise on quality control issue in the country. He also appreciated PSQCA personals for playing a vital role to spread the awareness among the public to know about quality control culture in Pakistan. He also appreciates NGO's of consumer rights associations and asked to work with PSQCA side by side for the benefits of common cause.
He informed that standardised products be used. He claimed that PSQCA is struggling hard to bring unregistered products in net. The Federal Minister assured that he will never allowed these products in Pakistan. He also informed that we are going to open PSQCA offices in Sialkot and Gawadar. He directed to the Authority to discourage the unauthorised manufacturing and purchase of sub standards goods and PSQCA must also ensure that it issues licenses only those manufacturers who fully comply with its requirements relating to quality and standards as well.
He said that special attention is giving in reference to the improvement for the industrial standardisation, enhancement of the standard of the manufacturing product in the country. The Director General of PSQCA, Pir Bakhsh Khan Jamali also gave the Minister a formal briefing. In his exhaustive briefing he touched upon the aspects of developed and undeveloped projects, their achievements and other relevant issues. The Minister showed keen interest in the working and performance of the PSQCA and assured his full support in increasing the effectiveness of the Authority to achieve its assigned mandate.-PR
