Rice prices were sharply higher on the wholesale grain market on Thursday in process of trading, dealers said. On the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh gained Rs 50 to Rs 3275-3375, Basmati 386 new gained Rs 200 to Rs 5000-5200, super Basmati Punjab new followed the suit and rose the same amount to Rs 7000-7200, Super sela Karnal low type was up by Rs 200 to Rs 7000 and good type was higher by Rs 500 to Rs 7500, Super Karnal low quality rose by Rs 500 to Rs 9000 and best type was up by Rs 300 to Rs 9300, they said.
On the cereals side, wheat old bardan picked up Rs 20 to Rs 2710 and wheat new Bardan, however, slipped by Rs 10 to Rs 2730, other commodities items maintained overnight levels, they said. Prices on the grams and seed sectors were unchanged, they said.
