Provincial Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that 35 thousand intelligent students are getting scholarship from Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and number of beneficiaries would be raised up to 40 thousand in the next financial year.
Addressing a prize distribution ceremony at Lahore Cantt Public School, he said that the Punjab government was distributing 125,000 laptops among the intelligent students this year, whereas provision of laptops would be raised up to 300,000 in next financial year. Congratulating students, their parents and teachers, he said that basic education was very important and there must be a conducive environment for the betterment of education sector.
The minister claimed said the provincial government was fulfilling its responsibility in promoting educational sector by catering the basic education and this was the reason that it had started primary enrolment campaign to achieve 100 percent literacy rate in the province.
