US Plains hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady on Friday even as mill demand became more urgent. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City spiked 33 cents a bushel for 13.40- through 13.80 percent protein wheat supplies.
Wheat futures at the Kansas City Board of Trade ended lower on Thursday with the March contract down 5 cents at $6.80. USDA on Friday said net weekly export sales of US wheat totalled 701,600 tonnes, up 67 percent from the previous week and 25 percent from the prior 4-week average. Net sales totaled 55,800 tonnes for the 2012/13 marketing year.
