The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued a notice to former president Pervez Musharraf in a case pertaining to May 12, 2007 carnage in Karachi. According to a private television channel, a request was also forwarded to Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry in order to form a larger bench for hearing of the case.
A division bench of the SHC comprising Justice Shahid Bajood and Justice Nisar Sheikh heard the case and ordered to issue a notice to Pervez Musharraf as well as to publish the same in the British newspapers. One of the judges on the bench, said that the case was out of the jurisdiction of the two-member bench. Hence, analysing the importance of the case, a larger bench should be formed in order to deal the case effectively, he added. The hearing was adjourned till April 3.
