ISLAMABAD: As many as six private bills were introduced in the National Assembly on Tuesday while 12 bills were deferred due to absence of the concerned members.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi referred the bills to concerned standing committees. None of the private member bills were opposed by the Chief whip of PPP Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah.
Tasneem Siddiqui moved three bills including.
01: The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2011.
02: The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2011.
03: The Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2011.
Giving statement of objects and reasons of the bills, she said that citizenship or nationality of any country or state is a sacred and solemn commitment of loyalty towards the constitution.
During the recent past, there is a tendency in the citizens of Pakistan and particularly who are involved in corrupt practices to acquire citizenship or nationality of other countries and states without informing the concerned authorities. This tendency is providing a safe exit to such corrupt persons to loot the national wealth.
Civil Service of Pakistan and other services in relation to affairs of Pakistan are lucrative and charming for citizens. Sometimes wrong information is being provided by the applicants at the time of their recruitment and even after joining the civil services due to vested interest or hidden motives which is absolutely against the national interests.
There are instances that candidates at the time of their recruitment possessing citizenship or nationality and after they committing corruption or indulging in corrupt practices and misuse of their public office, they easily leave their services as well as country.
No country can afford such civil servant who is not loyal to the constitution and the country.
Syed Nasir Ali Shah introduced to amend the Representation of the People Act, 1976 [The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill. Nasir Ali Shah said that majority people cannot take part in the general elections due to million of rupees expenditures depriving people from their fundamental right of equal opportunity guaranteed by the constitution.
Justice (R) Fakhar un Nisa Khokher and Yasmeen Rehman moved to amend the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
