ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday assured the National Assembly that there would be no martial law or any care-taker set-up in the country as no one including the civil society, media and world would accept it.
Responding to points of order of Leader of the Opposition Ch.Nisar Ali Khan, he said, "We should not provide such chances which can derail democracy."The Prime Minister appreciated the statement of the leader of the opposition and PML-N head Nawaz Sharif for giving statements in support of democracy.
The Prime Minister said that democracy was the only way forward for the country, adding that it was irrelevant who would be in power but democracy should prevail. He said that when there would be no democracy in the country then the entire nation would struggle for it.
Prime Minister Gilani said that democracy was restored in the country after great sacrifices by all the political parties, workers and its protection was our collective responsibility About gas outages in the twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, he advised the Opposition to bring Adjournment Motion in the House so that relevant minister could brief the House in details.
The Prime Minister assured Javed Hashmi that an inquiry would be conducted about giving wrong information to the House regarding government expenditures on his health, adding "an apology will be tendered in case of any wrong information."
