Like elsewhere in the country, the 135th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated on Sunday with national spirit and enthusiasm in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and FATA with a renew pledge to strictly adhere to his golden principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline to make Pakistan a stronger, developed and democratic welfare-state.
National flag is hoisted at all government buildings in all major cities of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and FATA as mark of respect and to pay homage to the great leader.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for departed soul of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and prosperity and development of Pakistan.
A number of political, social, cultural and educational organisations have organised different programmes to mark this momentous occasion in a befitting manner.
In this connection, a function arranged by old students of Edwards College Peshawar held here where speakers paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation.
Khyber Pakthunkhwa Former Chief Secretary, Abdullah said that Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a towering personality, who changed the course of history and geography of world through peaceful struggle. He said Quaid-i-Azam stood for constitutionalism, rule of law, respect for human rights, and equality.
Abdullah said Quaid-i-Azam's slogan of 'Unity, Faith and Discipline' had inspired the Muslims of the subcontinent to achieve a separate state for themselves in South Asia.
He said Quaid e Azam was a principled and farsighted statesman and even his opponents had acknowledged his flawless and exemplary character.
He not only led the freedom struggle to its successful completion but also took practical steps to determine basic contours of polity. His thoughts and ideals are beacon of light for the nation till today, he added.
TV and Radio channels are presenting special programmes on the life, struggle and achievements of the Quaid-i-Azam, while the newspapers brought out special supplements to highlight this momentous day.
Similarly, special functions were also held at all the agency headquarters of Fata, where national songs and debate competitions among students held. The speakers paid homage to Father of the Nation's constant and unbendable courage, which resulted the creation of Pakistan on world map on August 14, 1947.
The PML-N Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chapter also took our a rally on GT Road to pay homage to the charismatic leader, who envisioned Pakistan as democratic and impregnable Muslim welfare state, where people could live with peace, equality, love, fraternity and harmony.
The speakers were holding banners and placards inscribed with different slogans of Quaid-i-Azam including Unity, Faith and Discipline.
