Global Foundation (GF) has appealed the President of Pakistan to fulfil his pledge and make announcement for abolishing the death sentence.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Ulfat Kazmi Executive Director Global Foundation said that there are as many as 10,000 prisoners who are waiting for capital punishment, adding the courts were continuously awarding death sentence to prisoners. He informed that Pakistan ranks on top for having the maximum prisoners of capital punishment.
He asked that President of Pakistan to announce for abolishing the death sentence on the occasion of death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He, however said that no relaxation should be given to culprits involved in rebellion and anti-state activities.
