Increased winter gas load has persistently resulted in low pressure situation which has adversely affected the overall supply in Sui Southern Gas Company''s franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Given the gravity of the situation, all industrial and captive power customers are required to discontinue gas usage on every Sunday from 7am till Monday 7am, till further notice.
A unanimous decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired at the Governor House on December 15 by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad and attended by SSGC management and office-bearers of majority of trade bodies and associations representing major industrial areas.
Industries already observed a 24-hour closure last Sunday from 7am onwards. The SSGC surveillance teams are monitoring compliance and have been fully authorised to disconnect gas supply for 48 hours of any customer found violating the above mentioned schedule. The SSGC management appreciates the co-operation of the industrial and power sector customers and remains confident that this closure will enable supply of stable pressure during the rest of the week.-PR
