Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Friday said the government will foil any unconstitutional move against democratic set-up in the country. The government would not let the conspirators succeed in their nefarious designs, he said speaking at medical cards distribution ceremony held under the auspices of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUj) here at Peshawar Press Club.
President KhUj, Arshad Aziz Malik, General Secretary, Yousaf Ali, Senior Vice President, Ali Hazrat Bacha, and president Peshawar Press Club, Saiful Islam Saifi were present on the occasion. In the first phase, KhUj had extended medical cards facility to more than 40 members, while some 40 more journalists would avail facility in second phase.
Iftikhar said that the successive democratic governments had not flourished because of domination of authoritarian rule of military dictators in the country. He expressed the hope that the government would complete its five-year constitutional period.
He stressed the need for all better working relations among all major state organs. All institutions should need to work in respective domain, which was better for strengthening democracy in the country.
Regarding the journalists community, he said the government was fully facilitating the journalists financially and trying to resolve their issues. He appreciated the Khyber Union of Journalists step for provision of free medical facilities to the members. He asked the owners of media organisations to extend medical facilities to their employees. The provincial government was keen to provide maximum financial assistance for strengthening all sources of information and communication in the country. He formally launched the website of Khyber Union of Journalists, and distributed medical cards among 40 members.
