Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas has emphasised upon taking concrete action to eradicate the menace of narcotics and drug abuse, in accordance with the National Anti-Narcotics Policy 2010 (NANP-2010). He was presiding a meeting being the head of Provincial Narcotics Control Committee Sindh, to review implementation of the Policy decision (NANP-2010), ie, Declaring Larkana City as Drug Free City.
The Secretary Excise Manzoor Memon apprised the meeting that views/comments from the Departments of Home, Culture, Auqaf and Religious Affairs , Social Welfare, Information and Archives Department, Sindh Police and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency have been received, while from 03 departments are awaited as well summary for Chief Minister has been forwarded to declare Larkana as Model Drug Free City.
In addition to this the District Jail Malir has been selected as first model for "Drug Free Jail", meanwhile the Additional I.G. Sindh Police (Investigation) and D.G. Excise and Taxation Sindh have been nominated as focal persons. The Prosecution Training of E&T Department staffs are in process and a comprehensive PC-1 for implementation of Drug Control Master Plan Sindh is being prepared.
The Chief Secretary advised to arrange a Training Workshop for reasonable awareness of the concerned personnel and instructed the Secretary Excise is to ensure close co-ordination and collaboration of the relevant nation building departments. He noted that all out efforts must be made to root out this menace, devotedly and zealously. Secretaries of Education, Finance, Health, Information, Auqaf and AIG Sindh Police were also present in the meeting.-PR
