Sindh and Balochistan's all industrial units' gas supply has been halted from Sunday morning for next 24 hours. According to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sources, this industrial gas loadshedding of Sindh and Balochistan provinces started at 7.30 AM Sunday morning and will continue till same time Monday morning.
The sources added that owing to the increased demand in ongoing winter season the company is facing acute shortage of gas supply, while line peak flow has decreased from 900 to 750 MMCFD; the SSGC is trying to cover this scarcity of gas by loadshedding in different sectors.
One-day CNG sector gas break saves 30 MMCFD and industrial loadshedding saves 300 MMCFD of gas in a day. The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is also getting lesser than demand gas supply of only 80 MMCFD daily.
The sources added further that after a successful meeting between the industrialists and the Minister of Petroleum it was decided that Sindh and Balochistan industries' gas supply will be closed on December 18 (Sunday) at 7.30 and it would be resumed at 7.00 AM on December 19 (today).
The SSGC vigilance teams will monitor the gas loadshedding during this period and who ever will be found guilty of breaching the gas break; their gas will be closed for next 48 hours, after end of this ongoing loadshedding.
Every Sunday, this industrial gas loadshedding plan will be observed in Sindh and Balochistan and the saved gas will be used by the SSGC to maintain its system.
