Sindh Chamber of Agriculture while expressing concern over delay in starting the cane crushing season by many sugar mills of Sindh has asked the government to initiate legal action against the management of all these sugar mills. A meeting of the executive committee of Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, which held here on Friday under the chair of the Senior Vice President Mir Imdad Talpur adopted a resolution in this behalf.
One of the members of the executive committee informed that out of 32 sugar mills, only 11 have started crushing the cane resulting to great losses to growers whose sugarcane crop is going to destroy. The meeting demanded of the government that as the sowing season of wheat has been passed, sunflower seeds should be provided to these growers in place of wheat seeds so that they could be able to sow sunflowers. In another resolution, the meeting demanded of the government to force the sugar mills management to clear the outstanding dues of million of rupees to growers.
