US Midwest corn, soya bids steady to weak

Corn and soybean spot basis bids were steady to slightly lower at processors, elevators and river terminals around the US Midwest on Tuesday, pressured by slow domestic and export demand, grain merchants said. Farmer sales remained light, with many growers hoping prices rebound early in the new year before resuming sales, but few users of the commodities were bidding aggressively for supplies despite the scant marketings.
Corn bids fell 3 cents at a western Iowa elevator and by 1 cent at a terminal along the Mississippi River; while soya bids fell 3 cents at a processor in Sioux City, Iowa.
