He lived a full life

Published Updated

I met Mr Muhammad Ahmed Zuberi for the first time, when I was President of Karachi University Students Union and Chairman inter-collegiate body. He was a man of vision, great perception and devoted to his journalist career. A part from his professional career, which is outstanding, as a person he was sagacious, soft-spoken and keen observer of events.
He started his career with Dawn and then started their eveninger daily 'The Evening Star' almost a pioneering venture. This became the most widely read eveninger. Later, he left the Dawn Group and started his own business & financial daily 'The Business Recorder'. This happened to be the first daily devoted to Finance, Commerce, Business and Industry.
It was no less than a miracle that he could sustain this venture, which now occupies the pride of place amongst the world of financial journalism. He was very candid, a patriot and was very popular not only in business circles but also in the higher echelons of the Government, who valued his advice and views. Mr Zuberi was always available to his friends, who were always greeted with a smile, courtesy and full attention. He also established a TV channel under the name 'AAJ' which is known for its independent views and balanced analysis of current affairs.
Lot has been written about him and much more can be added to it, for he has left a host of friends and admirers. He lived a full life and fought till the end; he did not let his age or failing health deter his daily routine. To conclude it is a unique and rare quality that people from all walks of life pay glowing tributes to this charming and dynamic personality.
May God bless his soul and may his sons follow the footsteps of their illustrious father.
