Around 2,135 beneficiaries have so far been provided financial assistance under Waseela-e-Haq scheme of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), launched to promote self-employment among women segment of the society. Cases for other 1,641 beneficiaries are ready for disbursement in next few days, an official said here on Sunday.
The official said Rs 300,000 long-term interest free financial assistance is provided to randomly selected beneficiary families under the scheme to trigger, cater and eliminate poverty, thus enabling women empowerment to flourish.
The official said the procedure for repayment of loan has been approved by the BISP board under which the beneficiary is allowed a grace period of one year, and the grace period will commence from the date of disbursement of final instalment to the beneficiary.
The time period of repayment is 15 years, the official added. Answering a question, he said nation-wide Poverty Scorecard survey has been completed across the country except Fata.
