Shah Faisal Afridi, Chairman Tehrik Mutaassireen, a movement of Internally Displaced Persons of Bara, Khyber agency on Saturday announced to stage a sit-in outside the Political Agent Office and vowed that they will continue protest campaign till acceptance of their demands.
Speaking in a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, he said that the government is least bothered to pay attention towards the problems being faced by uprooted persons from Bara during ongoing military operation. He said the situation is growing from bad to worse because of imposing prolonged, unannounced curfew in Bara, Khyber agency.
He said that people stranded in Bara are looking for government assistance and enable them to migrate to secure places owing to curfew and security forces' action in the area. He informed that more than 100 schools have been damaged in ongoing situation, whereas 400 small industrial units and 12,000 shops are shutdown in the Bara, Khyber agency. Afridi said that the infrastructure damages have taken place at a huge scale and link bridges and roads are in shamble condition.
He maintained a large number of people have been forced to take shelter in temporary IDPs facility in Jalozai, where they are facing enormous difficulties due to non-availability of basic needs and other livelihood. Following the non-acceptance of their demands, he said that they had decided to stage a sit-in on December 12 (Monday) in front of Political Agent Office in Bara, Khyber Agency. He said that the rallies and protest demonstrations would also be staged outside the Khyber-Pakhtunkwha Governor House, Provincial Assembly, if their demands were not ascertained forthwith.
