The Karachi Port handled 137,711 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,799 tonnes of import cargo and 49,912 tonnes of export cargo including 5,495 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 87,799 tonnes comprised of 24,779 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,020 tonne of general cargo; 17,000 tonnes of coal and 40,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,912 tonnes comprised of 44,456 tonnes of containerised cargo; 954 tonnes of general cargo; 2,802 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,044 tonnes of rice; 758 tonnes of cement and 1,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Hanjin Monaco, Viona and Ocean Light carrying two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz APL Brisbane, President Truman, Emirates Kabir, Hanjin Monaco, MT Karachi and Ocean Light carrying four container ships, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely MT Karachi, Marietta Bolten and Taban-1 with one crude oil tanker, one coal carrier and one container ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Two container ships namely YM Fuzhou and Kota Azam due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz APL Sokhna, Ital Onor, Lt. Trieste, Dong-A-Tyche, Chembulk Singapore and Morning Express carrying three container ships, two chemical carriers and one naphtha ship respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 24,490 tonnes includes 8,000 tonnes of edible oil and 16,490 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 25,955 tonnes includes 3,830 tonnes of rice; 2,966 tonnes of cement and 19,159 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely MV Henry, CGM Struss and Chemroad Wing sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MSC Jade is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels CV Henry, CV CGM Struss, CV MSC Jade, Fisher-K, Ionian Sea, MV Frauke and MV Chemroad Wing are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, project cargo and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Nexoe Maersk, Safmarine Ngami, CGM Eiffel, Sapphire-II, MT Lahore, and Gas Elixir with scheduled to load/offload containers, cement, furnace oil and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of six vessels viz CV Nexoe Maersk, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV CGM Eiffel, MT Lahore, MT Chemroad Rose and MV Gas Elixir carrying ontainers, furnace oil, edible oil and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
