The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Wednesday suspending three years jail term of former additional advocate general Punjab Seema Munawar, issued her release orders. An accountability court during last week had convicted Seema for withdrawing pension of her father former LHC judge late Munawer Elahi, by showing herself as unmarried, while she was a divorcee.
Seema submitted that she had filed an appeal against her conviction and in near future have no expectation of its fixation. She prayed to the court to suspend her sentence in light of the Supreme Court verdict, which allows suspension of few years conviction. NAB, Punjab, had accused Seema of withdrawing rupees 3.9 million the pension amount of her father by showing her unmarried, while she was a divorcee.
