Shah Hussain Shah will make a second attempt to confirm Pakistan's presence at the 2012 Olympics Judo event when he tries his luck at the International Judo Federation's (IJF) Grand Slam-2011 to be starting from December 9 in Tokyo, Japan. Shah Hussain,18 will represent Pakistan in the 100kg weight category event along with a partner Shahzaib. Shahzaib will play his first International event for Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that last month Shah Hussain Shah had taken part in the World Judo Championship in Cape Town where he lost to a Russian entry in the second round. "Pakistan Judo Federation is trying to avail every opportunity here and Shah Hussain Shah and his partner Shahzaib is our best hope since they are already in Japan," Secretary Pakistan Judo Federation Masood Ahmad told APP here on Wednesday.
He said the event will be tougher than Cape Town and top class players from 80 different countries will fight for the title. "We just need them to qualify for the quarter-finals to book Pakistan's berth in Olympics-2012 at London," Masood Ahmad said. "Shah Hussain Shah reached the second round last time but now he has been training for keeping this event in mind and I am not expecting a lot from them but just to qualify for the Olympics would be a big honour for Pakistan," Masood Ahmad concluded.
