Ace drag flicker, Sohail Abbas will miss the remaining part of the Champions Trophy after ruled out of action for a month after struck on the face during Pakistan's match against Spain here on Monday at North Harbour stadium. "He will be undergoing surgery tomorrow, Tuesday for his fractured left jaw and needs a month long rest for recovery", said team's manager, Khawaja Muhammad Junaid while talking to newsmen.
Sohail stopped a sizzling hit of one of Spain's forwards and the ball struck on his face (jaw) after deflecting to his own stick midway through the second half. Despite the injury he continued playing till its end before receiving medical aid from the team doctor.
"It is a bad injury and his whole left jaw has been fractured and dislocated and needs surgery to get the normal posture and doctors will be doing it tomorrow, Tuesday," he said adding "x-ray and necessary tests have confirmed the grave nature of the injury".
34-year old Sohail who has so far scored 329 goals in over 300 matches international matches as the world's highest scorer scored one goal from Pakistan in the match in which the green shirts were beaten 4-2 by Spain. He said after the surgery Sohail will undergo further tests to determine the success of the surgery.
