The man who carried out Sweden's first suicide bombing a year ago was not working alone as police hinted after the attack but was part of a large network, a Swedish daily reported Monday. "Taimour Abdulwahab was no lone wolf," the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) daily wrote in a lengthy investigative report, based largely on unnamed sources close to the probe, revealing among other things that an unknown man had photographed his body just 30 seconds after the blast and then quickly disappeared.
"It was as if he had been standing there, waiting for the explosion," an unnamed witness to the blast told the paper. Swedish police and prosecutors insisted in the months after the 29-year-old sports therapist blew up his car and then himself near a busy Stockholm shopping street on December 11, 2010, that there was no indication he had any accomplices.
But according to the SvD report numerous signs suggest that he was part of a large network, including calls he made to Iraq on the day of the attack and the until now unmentioned mysterious photographer. "He stood there, not even a metre from the dead man's head. The man had a professional camera with a long lens, I thought to myself that the journalists really got there fast," another witness to the explosion told the paper.
