Chief Minister, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, on Monday asked the departments concerned to expedite construction work on mega infrastructural development project worth Rs 14 billion funded by Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). He said, while chairing a meeting regarding infrastructure development project carrying out with financial assistance of JICA in plain and rural areas of the province.
He said that the government has focused infrastructural development and rehabilitation of road network. Those, who attended the meeting, included Secretary C&W, Zahid Arif, Special Secretary, Waqar ul Hassan and officials of relevant departments. The project's total worth is Rs 14 billion, out of which Rs 12 billion will be spent on reconstruction of bridges, rehabilitation of road network in upper and hilly areas of the province.
Chief Minister informed that the government has doubled Annual Development Programme (ADP) in present fiscal year. The allocation of 80 percent in current fiscal budget for development and progress reflects the firm commitment of the ANP government, he maintained.
"We want peace, development and progress in the province", he added and said that the infrastructural development has been obstructed because of insurgency and terrorism over the past many years. However, he said that after the restoration of peace and stability, the era of development and progress has been initiated in the province, which could bear fruit within very short span of time. "Our mission is to provide all possible facilities to masses at their doorsteps, despite limited resources and financial constraints, provided maximum services to the people", he said.
Hoti said that the government has fulfilled commitments made with the people in the last general elections. He expressed the hope that the progress and development would continue in the province, and ANP will again take over for next five-year term because of massive contribution and services to poverty-stricken people of the province.
Earlier, speaking at meeting relating to education, Chief Minister said that the government is focusing on establishment of educational institutions under the objective of education for all and more access of people to it. He said that our mission to provide free and quality education in the province, saying that the steps are being placed for provision of maximum facilities and meet other requirements of the educational institutions.
The education is the only way to curb militancy and terrorism he added and said that the government has taken all possible measures to promote free and quality education. He said that education sector has been badly affected because of prolonged insurgency and terrorism.
He also extended special gratitude to donors' agencies for extending financial assistance to rehabilitate and reconstruct educational institutions in terrorism hit areas of the province. On the occasion, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education, Qazi Mohammad Asad, and Secretary Farah Hamid were present. The meeting reviewed the establishment of educational institutions and provision of other facilities and stressed for timely releasing of all pre-requisite funds and facilities to the institutions.
