In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has demanded immediate and unconditional release of the Kashmiris who have been under illegal detention for the last several years.
Referring to the unlawful detention of Hurriyet leaders including Dr Ashiq Hussain Fakhtoo, Ghulam Qadir Butt and Mohammad Shafi Khan, the veteran leader deplored that the Indian government even rejected the recommendations of its own review board, which had recommended release of the detainees in view of their good conduct, KMS reported. He maintained that the detained leaders were being subjected to political vendetta.
The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, addressing a gathering at Jawaharnagar in occupied Srinagar said that peace would continue to elude South Asia until the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the Kashmiris' aspirations.
People took to the streets in Nowhatta, Kaka Mohalla, Khawaja Bazar, Gojwara, Saraf Kadal, Rajouri Kadal and other areas of Srinagar to protest against detention of youth. They raised anti-India and pro-liberation slogans. Indian police arrested dozens of handicapped people during a demonstration in occupied Srinagar against the anti-people policies of the puppet regime.
