To provide foolproof security to mourners processions during the Ashura, more than 7,000 police personnel' have been deployed in the provincial capital city Peshawar. The mourner processions have been protected by sealing off all entry points.
All shopping markets, bazaars, plazas and business hub in sensitive areas have been shut down under the massive security plan. The routes heading toward to mourners processions and Imambargahs were closed down by putting concrete blocks and barbed wires.
The section 144 has already been imposed to maintain law and order situation. The movement of Afghan refugees have also been restricted and banned their entry in the city.
The major business hub, including Qissa Khawani Bazaar, Khyber Bazaar, foreign and local money exchanging markets, Kohati Gate, and other sensitive places had closed down in the city, whereas the sensitive locations were protected by sealing off all the entry points.
The personnel of quick response force has also been deployed to deal with any emergency situation during Ashura. The military forces will remain alert to maintain law and order situation, while the procession routes will also be monitored through air surveillance force.
DCO Peshawar, Siraj Ahmad said that the government has taken foolproof security arrangements for provision of full protection to mourners processions during the Ashura.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar has expressed satisfaction over the security steps for maintenance of law and order situation during the Muhrarram-ul-Haram.
About 2,100 police personnels will guard the mourners' processions in Hazara division, according to Commissioner Hazara division, Muhammad Khalid Khan Umerzai.
The government officials have asked the organisers of Majlis and mourners processions to follow the security steps to maintain law and order situation during the Ashura.
Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir stressed that all law-enforcing agencies have shared their information and inputs while making foolproof security arrangements during the Muharram.
