PTI misled media about his assets: Nisar

Published Updated

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar alleged that Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan misled media by sharing incomplete details of his assets, which he submitted to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Addressing a press conference, Nisar asked all the political parties to support PML-N's demand for constitution of a special tribunal headed by a judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan or High Court of any province.
This tribunal should scrutinise the details of assets filed by politicians to ECP, he said. He said that not only the politicians but military officials, bureaucrats and judges should also be subjected to accountability. PML-N has a history of three years struggle for enactment of Accountability Bill, which would be presented on private member day in the up coming session of National Assembly, he maintained.
Defending the economic reforms introduced by Nawaz Sharif in 1992, he said the reforms helped the government to discourage off shore business of money exchange and flow of money started to come through legal and banking channels. He said ending of double taxation system resulted in growth of remittances in the country.
Reacting strongly to Imran Khan's allegations against PML-N leaders, Nisar said Imran Khan's house in Bani Gala (Islamabad) was on 300 canals land but he misled the media by mentioning the cost of a single canal. The real cost of this house was more than Rs1300 million. He said the land was registered as 'gift' to him in same period when he divorced his wife. He further said Imran must take public into confidence how he managed to transfer the sale money of his luxurious flat in London to Pakistan.
Chaudhry Nisar further said there should be a judicial review of all the cases relating to political role of ISI now and in the past. He emphasised that government must focus on memogate and Nato aggression.
