Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has expressed concern over non-realisation of results of anti-polio drive in the province. Chairing a meeting at the Governor House here on Saturday, he directed that the regular monitoring of the drive in this respect should be ensured.
He warned that no dereliction would be tolerated in this connection and action would be initiated against those found involved in negligence. The Governor also directed that a fortnightly report should be submitted regarding the anti-polio efforts. The meeting reviewed the prevailing situation pertaining to the anti-polio drive in the province. It was attended by Sindh Health Minister, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Provincial Health Secretary, Hashim Raza Zaidi and representatives of WHO, UNICEF and those of the donor agencies. Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan was briefed about anti-polio drive in detail.
He directed that the factors should be identified because of which the desired results are not being obtained. The Governor instructed that the participation of the community should be ensured so that every nook and corner is covered in the province. Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed apprised about the efficacy of the anti-polio vaccine and gave suggestions for making the drive a success.
