The forward bloc in the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is annoyed with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani but and not with President Asif Ali Zardari, party sources said. According to sources close to the forward bloc, the Prime Minister has been releasing funds to their opponents.
They added that the annoyed group within the party is also supporting Shah Mehmud Qureshi in Multan. However, it has not yet decided to go with him into the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, after Qureshi, they added. Sources further said that the forward bloc would support PPP in Senate elections, and future line of action would be taken after Senate elections. These circles disagreed with the impression that chances of Senate elections are bleak. They said the Senate elections would take place as per schedule. When asked whether this government would be able to present budget in June, they said that they are not sure about it.
The dissidents said that a large number of party workers are annoyed with the Prime Minister for running his own group by releasing funds to their opponents. They said the concerns have been conveyed to the party high command and a meeting is likely soon.
It may be noted that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will hold PPP Punjab meeting in Lahore on Saturday. Earlier, the PPP has been divided the PPP Punjab in two parts, including the PPP central Punjab and PPP southern Punjab. However, this decision has yet to pay back the party, as the party workers and supporters are yet unhappy with the way the party bigwigs were running party affairs in Punjab.
