Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will arrange first aid training for its 11,00,000 students to prepare them for coping with any eventuality. Institute of Learning Emergency Medicine (ILEM) Ireland will train PEF master trainers who will then educate partner school heads, teachers and students about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
In this regard, a meeting was held between Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Anwar and Dr Farooq Butt Director (Administration) of ILEM (Ireland) in the PEF Head Office here on Sunday. Besides PEF-MD, DMDs and Programme Directors were also present.
Dr Butt briefed the meeting about importance and effect of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and added that it will sensitise the students about dealing with contingency situations. This training will be of two to five days duration. The meeting decided to arrange CPR training for PEF staff, as well.
PEF Chairman Raja Anwar observed that this training would sensitize the students to emerge as socially responsible citizens. It is expected that it will help to reduce morbidity and mortality, he added.
