ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahiddullah Khan said former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was still the most popular political leader of the country and people had great affiliation with their beloved leader.

Talking to a private news channel, he said results of the by election in Chakwal proved the fact that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had always served the nation and country.

The minister said Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was disqualified on having an Iqama not on corruption charges and to show reservations on the court decision was the constitutional right of every citizen.

He said opposition parties could not compete with PML-N in political field, so they were criticizing the government just for point scoring, adding the PML-N leadership had resolved the problems of the country including energy shortage, power loadshedding, besides strengthening national economy, and reducing terrorism as the international institutions were acknowledging the policies of the government.

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahir-ul-Qadri had always protested against the democratic system in the country and in the past he had made the grave of democracy in front of the country's parliament.

PAT chief had no space in the country's politics and those who would provide him any support in his protest would be considered as the enemies of democracy, he added.

He said Asif Ali Zardari had destroyed the ideology of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

To another query about the Model Town incident, he said no one was declared responsible for the incident in Baqir Najfi report including Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah.

He said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) governments were badly failed to provide good governance to masses of their respective provinces.

People of KP were disappointed by the politics of PTI and its chief Imran Khan who was claiming to bring change in the country but had failed to introduce any major change in the province, he added.
