Two Chinese remanded in ATM skimming case

KARACHI: A Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday allowed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to keep five Chinese citizens till January 18 in a pertaining to Automated Teller Machine (ATM) skimming.

The FIA produced five suspects arrested from different parts of the city before the magistrate and requested it to grant their physical remand for interrogation.

The Investigating Officer told the court that the suspects belonged to an organized gang which had stolen millions of rupees from the citizens of Karachi.

Two Chinese were held on Jan 10 as they were found suspicious in CCTV footage of an ATM at Abdullah Haroon Road, while three others were arrested from Defense Housing Authority on Sunday.

Sending all of them in FIA’s custody on physical remand, the court sought progress report from the investigators in the next hearing.
